under the blanket
A lot of people have seen at least one of the pictures of Poppet under a blanket. It's her favourite pastime to find something to bury herself under and settle in for a great nap! My husband actually loves to build little caves from pillows, blankets, towels and clothes for her to find. We have pictures galore of Poppet under things, Milly not so much - she finds it a ridiculous pastime!

Meet Muffinhead - Adopt-a-less-Adoptable
The Victoria Pet Adoption Society has featured Muffinhead during the Adopt-A-Less-Adoptable because he is diabetic. He is currently in foster care, but has been looking for a new family for well over a year now.
I wanted to feature VPAS because of the good work they do and also,our little Milly came from there. The staff can actually still remember her, because of her fear she was around for a long time waiting for someone to adopt her. The story of Muffinhead is similar in a way in that he needs someone who is comfortable managing his diabetes and where there are no other pets or children.
Muffinhead would love to become your new best friend. He is quiet yet affectionate and will do almost anything for treats. He is very good at lounging, sun bathing, and stretching out, and he never turns down a good tummy rub.

Be the Change - Lost Pets and Visible ID
Blog the change for animals. Organized by the happy folks at Go Pet Friendly and This one Wild Life, it's about pet bloggers posting about a cause near and dear to their hearts. Of course, here at blanket it's going to be all about the vital need for pets to wear a visible ID tag!
Here's a staggering statistic: 90% of lost pets wearing visible ID tags are returned to their owners. 90% of lost pets wearing no ID are never seen again.
It's a sad fact that millions (MILLIONS) of animals are euthanized in overcrowded shelters every year. A large number of them suffer this fate simply because they are not wearing VISIBLE ID and cannot be identified and returned to their owners. Even some animals with tattoos and microchips are rendered unidentifiable because the owner registry information is out of date. Tagging your pet with visible ID is the best way by far to ensure a quick and safe return of your furry friend. Microchips or tattoos work well too, and every pet should have one, but to give yourself extra peace of mind and your pet the best possible chance of making it back home safe and quick they need visible ID.
We don't want to name a specific cause just to say a big thanks to all the shelter/rescue folk out there working tirelessly for animals in need.
So,whatever tag you choose make sure it has your up to date information on it and it's visible to the general public!

Lucky kittens
You might have seen the two kittens I posted on Facebook a month ago both covered in food from munching away - well here are some new pictures of them with their foster parents and just as happy as larry!
These are the only two remaining from a litter of five all found without a mum. Unfortunately, the other three passed soon after being found, but these two, brother and sister, have overcome everything that has been thrown their way. Apart from a stiff joint from a previous infection and being tiny for their age are doing really well. It's amazing that just a month ago I could hold them in the palm of my hand.
Catherine from VPAS is one of the foster parents and loves them so much she might just have to keep them unless really good parents can be found.... uh oh!

The summer of...
It's summertime, and for us on the north west coast it seems to have only just begun. So when we were thinking of new summer designs for blanket we started collecting some images of summers gone by to give us some inspiration.
I grew up in various places around the UK from Norfolk to the Cotswolds and ending up in London, so summer holidays were taken around the Norfolk coat (East of England), Brighton beach and Cornwall. For the normal two week vacation, my parents would load up the pink Volkswagon camper van and take us off to France and Switzerland. Great fun, but I don't think it was supposed to house as many a it did...I was one of five children!
So, a selection of pics with all the memories of Cornish cream teas, sticks of Brighton rock, and pink polka dot bikinis that have inspired the latest range of blanket ID tags. Photos of new tags to be posted soon!

blanket coverage
Wow! an exciting week featured on Dog Milk, Outblush and several mentions on blogs and Facebook! and to top it all a massive giveaway hosted by Modern Cat. It's been a great week just watching the number of entries grow each day and at last count we'd had a whopping 453 people join in to tell us their favourite design. Its been fun reading all the comments and working out what our most poular designs are: The results are in...

Rescued pets
We attended an SPCA fund-raising event at the weekend, and exchanging stories about rescued pets reminded us of when we adopted our two little poopers. So, today wanted to share with you some pics of them...cos we are so proud.
'Poppet' arrived after recovering from being found very ill and was nurtured back to health by Dee's Orphan Kitten Fund. She soon settled in and is a real live wire. Milly however, had been found very skinny with kittens and super-scared. After a long stay with Victoria Pet Adoption Society we brought her home. She sat in this little bed (her's from the shelter) in the corner of the spare room for three full months while we earned her trust with patience and kindness. She never dared to leave that corner until we were asleep, but then she would check out the house and play with her toys. Finally, one day, after hearing Poppet running around she beat her fears, left the room, and never went back! (Catherine at VPAS and Kerry at Dee's, I hope you enjoy this post and see how they've grown.)
As you can see they are just great together. Poppet had lost her mum and Milly her kittens so the match was perfect. It's so great to hear others people rescue stories so, if you have one let me know.

Fancy Dress
A very happy 2010 to all of you. We start the new year on a high note with the news that by the end of January, blanket will offer service not just in Canada, but throughout the whole of North America. This is some eight months earlier than planned but because of the enquiries we've received from the USA we decided to bring it forward. Fingers crossed for 2010!
Just a thought for today...do you think that our pets are making way more effort than we are in dressing up for big occasions and presenting themselves with an air of sophistication?

Plaid, blankets...plaid blankets, plaid everything
Okay, so everyone knows there's huge amounts of plaid designs spilling over into all sorts of stuff this season. There are winter blankets (being the norm), clothes, bags etc and of course this has gone over into the pet world. Lucky for us it's part of blanketID's branding and we even have a couple of tags in plaid! First up are some pet beds that look so cozy (I actually think I had some PJ'S in the same fabric)!

The super beautiful blanket below is from Eleanor Pritchard and is 100% wool. Would you let your pet sleep on it is the question...I think so - as long as I was under it !
Then, pet carriers to match the new coat, purse, boots and laptop cases no less... not forgetting the suitcase!
